BMW is offering gamers an early look at the upcoming second-generation X2 by creating a virtual city called “Hypnopolis” in Fortnite. This digital world features an engaging storyline that centers around the electric iX2 and is filled with easter eggs and iconic BMW landmarks, including a faithful replica of the “Four Cylinder” building.

Hypnopolis also faithfully recreates other notable locations like the BMW Welt and the BMW Museum. Gamers can enter this virtual city by using the island code: 3541-0917-2429. BMW has developed its own car creator within Fortnite, located at the BMW Welt. Players can unlock it by completing challenges, allowing them to customize a prototype of the X2 with various paint schemes, wheels, and trunk contents.

Notably, BMW accomplished this virtual endeavor independently, without assistance from Epic Games, the studio behind Fortnite. The real 2024 BMW X2 is set to debut on October 11, with both traditional ICE and electric versions expected. Production will commence later this year at the Regensburg factory.

Following its world premiere, the production version of the 2024 BMW X2 will become available in the Car Creator within Fortnite, allowing players to customize it with official body colors, wheel designs, and interior options. Spy shots have indicated that the new X2, codenamed “U10,” will be larger and adopt a distinct mini-X6 silhouette. It will share its platform with the X1 and the electric iX1, featuring an M Performance variant with a potent turbocharged 2.0-liter engine, likely delivering 312 horsepower to an xDrive system through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
