2024 Toyota Corolla Cross receives updates in Japan: More efficient and powerful
Toyota’s popular SUV gets powertrain upgrades, improved safety features, and enhanced tech for the 2024 model year in Japan.
The 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross in Japan is set to receive several updates that promise to make it more efficient and powerful. One of the major changes involves the replacement of the previous 2.0-liter four-cylinder hybrid engine with a smaller 1.8-liter engine. Toyota has also fine-tuned various components of the hybrid system to enhance fuel efficiency and increase power, though specific fuel consumption figures have not been disclosed.
For customers not interested in the hybrid version, there is now an ICE (internal combustion engine) variant that comes with a more substantial 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, replacing the previous 1.8-liter option.
In addition to the powertrain updates, Toyota has upgraded the Corolla Cross’s Safety Sense system, adding an improved proactive driving assist feature and a pre-crash safety function designed for oncoming vehicles and pedestrians. The 2024 model also boasts a new and improved 10.5-inch infotainment display and a 12.3-inch TFT digital instrument cluster. Furthermore, the 2024 Corolla Cross now offers Wi-Fi connectivity and is available in eight different colors, including a new shade of gray.
Pricing for the 2024 Corolla Cross in Japan ranges from 2,184,000 yen ($15,574) to 3,459,000 yen ($23,084). As of now, there is no information about when these 2024 updates will be introduced in other markets.
In the United States, the Corolla Cross range recently expanded with the introduction of the Nightshade special edition. Based on the SE trim, this version features 18-inch gloss black wheels, black-accented headlights and taillights, and black and red interior accents. The Nightshade edition is available in three color options: Jet Black, Barcelona Red with a Jet Black roof, and Celestite Gray with a Jet Black Roof.
