Casio Edifice pays tribute to Honda Type R legacy with special watch

Edifice unveils a timepiece celebrating Honda’s performance heritage.

Casio’s Edifice brand has unveiled a new timepiece, paying homage to the legendary Honda Type R legacy with numerous custom features that reference the iconic performance-oriented models.

The watch features a dial with an outer ring painted in the signature Championship White, an exclusive shade associated with the Type R lineup. It also sports a matching ivory-white leather band with engravings of the vehicle codes from the Civic, Integra, and NSX Type R models. The strap’s reverse side is finished in Alcantara with contrasting red stitching.

The watch’s case is constructed from carbon-fiber-reinforced resin, while the dial background features a dark honeycomb pattern reminiscent of a vehicle’s grille. The color red, closely associated with the Type R series, is incorporated into the design, including a 3D-look Honda emblem with a red theme. Type R emblems can be found on the metal ring, stopwatch button, and the backplate to ensure their visibility from all angles.

While not a smartwatch, the Edifice Honda Type R Edition can connect to a user’s smartphone via Bluetooth to provide extra functionality without advanced sensors. Bluetooth connectivity enables functions such as automatic time correction based on the user’s location and season, storing date/time/location stamps on the dedicated app, setting timers and alarms, transferring stopwatch data, and locating the paired smartphone as long as it’s within range.

The watch also features integrated solar charging, allowing it to operate for approximately 7 months on a full charge. Like other Edifice timepieces, the Honda Type R special edition boasts double LED illumination and scratch-resistant, anti-reflective sapphire glass.

Casio plans to officially introduce the watch during the Super Formula GP at the Suzuka Circuit on October 29 and will begin accepting orders on November 1. The Edifice Honda Type R Edition is priced at ¥55,000 (approximately $367), including tax in Japan. This collaboration between Casio Edifice and Honda follows the motorsport-themed Honda Racing Red Edition watch introduced last year.
