Production version of the Toyota Crown Estate concept confirmed for the United States.

Toyota has released a teaser image of an upcoming “all-wheel-drive hybrid electric mid-size SUV” set to enter the US market. The model bears a striking resemblance to the previously confirmed Toyota Crown Estate concept, which is slated to debut in Japan in 2024.

The teaser image offers a glimpse of the SUV’s rear section, showcasing horizontally mounted full-width LED taillights and the tailgate and bumper lines that mirror those of the Toyota Crown Estate prototype. The rear badging indicates that the US version of the model will feature a self-charging hybrid powertrain with all-wheel drive capability. It’s likely to combine either a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter or a turbocharged 2.4-liter petrol engine with dual electric motors, consistent with other Toyota hybrid models. In Japan, the Toyota Crown Estate will also be available with a plug-in hybrid powertrain option.

The production version of the Toyota Crown Estate is expected to closely match the prototype’s dimensions, measuring 4,930 mm (194.1 inches) in length, 1,880 mm (74 inches) in width, and 1,620 mm (63.8 inches) in height. This places it between the dimensions of the RAV4 and the Highlander, making it a mid-size offering.

Apart from the exterior design that adheres to Toyota’s latest styling language, glimpses of the interior suggest a five-seater layout with a flat-folding rear bench for added practicality. The dashboard is anticipated to share a resemblance with the Toyota Crown Crossover, featuring a digital cockpit with dual 12.3-inch displays and several other shared components.

Toyota has left a “see you soon” message with the teaser, indicating that the hybrid SUV’s debut is imminent. This will mark the second Crown-badged model in the US market, with Japanese customers already having access to the complete range, including the Crown Crossover, Crown Sport SUV, Crown Estate SUV, and Crown Sedan.
