A one-off Rolls-Royce Cullinan named “The Pearl Cullinan” has been revealed as the first Bespoke project from the Private Office Dubai, commissioned as a surprise 90th birthday gift.
A Rolls-Royce client in Dubai has commissioned a one-of-a-kind vehicle known as “The Pearl Cullinan.” This unique Rolls-Royce Cullinan stands apart from all others and marks the maiden Bespoke project from the Private Office Dubai. The project was initiated in 2022 by a devoted Rolls-Royce owner who intended to present it as a 90th birthday gift to his father. The Lead Designer and Regional Director engaged in multiple meetings with the father to gain insight into his life story.
The result of these meetings is The Pearl Cullinan, adorned with a stunning paint color known as “Pearl Rose.” This exclusive hue takes inspiration from the owner’s most treasured pearl from his collection and will remain unavailable to any future Rolls-Royce client. The Pearl Rose finish incorporates metallic and pearlescent effects, along with meticulously selected pigments to achieve a subtle pinkish hue. Rolls-Royce reveals that perfecting Pearl Rose required 30 iterations, each involving the application to a full-size body panel and multiple assessments under simulated daylight conditions to ensure it complements the Middle Eastern sun. While it may not be as one-of-a-kind as the Amethyst Droptail, it is undoubtedly a unique creation.
The Pearl Cullinan further receives a single coachline in Rose Gold, accompanied by a rose gold-plated Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament and Bespoke Rose Gold kickplates. The interior features special accents inspired by the father. The front seats are upholstered in Cashmere Grey, his favorite color, as he prefers to sit in the front passenger seat.
The rear seats are finished in Ardent Red leather, a color traditionally used to present pearls to customers. The burr walnut veneer in the cabin mimics the boxes used for pearl delivery. Additional bespoke details include Rose Gold ‘RR’ monograms on the seats, a mother-of-pearl inlay on the dashboard, a mother-of-pearl clock surround with a Rose Gold dial and hands, a mother-of-pearl infotainment dial, and the Arabic word for “father” inlaid in stainless steel. The Bespoke Starlight Headliner even showcases the star pattern on the day the client’s father was born 90 years ago.
While the father typically rides in the front, passengers in the rear can enjoy specially designed picnic tables. These tables usually feature wood or carbon fiber, but The Pearl Cullinan’s tables stand out with 1,351 individual pieces of mother-of-pearl on each one, integrated with an Arabic circular pattern. Each piece is meticulously placed by hand around burr walnut sheets and sealed with a clear lacquer.
Michelle Lusby, Bespoke Lead Designer at the Private Office Dubai, expressed, “[The clients’] unique use of mother-of-pearl was a great creative and technical challenge for us: to see the Picnic Tables go from my original digital designs to those beautiful, highly detailed finished works of art was fantastic. This is a truly special commission in so many ways and a project we aspire to have as Rolls-Royce designers. Emotions inspire our imaginations.”
With this exceptional creation, Rolls-Royce continues to set a benchmark in bespoke luxury vehicles. To rival such craftsmanship, Maybach would need to introduce an equally remarkable offering.
