2025 Kia Carnival unveiled in Korea with a more solemn face and Hybrid Option

Kia has released the first images and details of the facelifted Carnival ahead of its market debut in Korea next month.

The flagship minivan now showcases Kia’s latest design elements and introduces a hybrid powertrain option, marking a significant update three years after the introduction of the fourth-generation model.

The key highlight of the exterior redesign is the updated front end, reminiscent of the recent facelift given to the mechanically related Kia Sorento SUV. It features vertically oriented headlights with slim horizontal LED strips, complemented by an enlarged tiger-nose grille and a singular lower bumper intake. The hood and front fenders, however, seem to have been carried over from the pre-facelifted model, retaining a familiar profile.

At the rear, vertical elements have been incorporated into the full-width taillight cluster. The license plate housing has been repositioned lower on the revamped tailgate, while the new rear bumper showcases SUV-style cladding that contrasts with the enlarged, glossy skid plate.

Kia also introduced a new Gravity trim, distinguished by its unique grille pattern, distinct alloy wheels, and dark metallic exterior accents for a more stealthy appearance. Additionally, there are fresh options for the wheels, akin to those offered in Kia’s EV range, and a new Ivory Silver shade joins the existing color palette of Snow White Pearl, Astra Blue, Aurora Black Pearl, Pantera Metal, and Ceramic Silver.

While interior images were not released, it is anticipated that the Carnival will inherit the curved digital cockpit featuring dual 12.3-inch screens, as seen in other Kia models. The minivan will offer new upholstery choices and maintain the option for either a 7-seater or 8-seater configuration.

Despite its shared underpinnings with the Sorento, the Carnival was one of the last Kia models without an electrified variant in its lineup. This changes with the facelift, which will now include a turbocharged 1.6-liter hybrid powertrain, alongside petrol and diesel options.

Further details regarding specifications and market availability of the facelifted Carnival will be revealed next month, including pricing and the commencement of pre-orders in Korea. The updated minivan is expected to make its way to the US for the 2025 model year, with the existing model continuing for the 2024 model year.
