Collectible Porsche Tractors from the 1950s and 1960s available for enthusiasts.

For those with a penchant for rare and vintage Porsche vehicles, a unique opportunity is currently underway, as a collection of vintage Porsche tractors from the 1950s and 1960s is up for auction with Australian classic car specialist Donington Auctions. These antique tractors provide a fascinating glimpse into Porsche’s history and are highly sought after by collectors.

Porsche’s venture into tractor manufacturing dates back to the 1930s, but it was in 1950 that the brand introduced its first production tractor, the AP17, following a contract with Allgaier Werkzeugbau GmbH. Porsche subsequently expanded its tractor line, offering models like the Master, Super, Standard Star, and Junior, with different engine configurations.

These vintage Porsche tractors, much like the iconic Porsche 356, boast low gearing and variable track width, making them agile and suitable for the smaller farmlands of Europe.

Among the tractors up for auction, the 1950 Allgaier R-22 stands as the oldest. Bidding for the Allgaier series models starts at $9,477 (AUD 15,000). The R-22 is equipped with a 22-horsepower single-cylinder diesel engine mated to a four-speed gearbox. While it has new Pirelli and Mitas tires, it is described as “due for decommissioning,” suggesting it may not be in running condition.

One of the highlights is the 1962 Porsche 419 Master, with a starting bid of $22,115 (AUD 35,000). The auction company anticipates it could sell for up to $47,000. This particular model is a more advanced and powerful tractor, boasting a 50-horsepower four-cylinder engine and is one of the largest and most potent tractors produced by Porsche. Importantly, it is in good running condition and features an air-cooled design, reminiscent of the Porsche 911 models produced from 1964 to 1998.

The auction features a mix of Allgaier and Porsche tractors, making it an exciting opportunity for enthusiasts and collectors alike. The auction will commence in a few days, offering a chance to own a piece of Porsche’s history and experience the charm of these vintage tractors.
