Zontes Introduces 699cc Three-Cylinder Engine in 703F Adventure Bike and 703RR Sportbike Prototypes

Zontes, the Chinese motorcycle manufacturer, has officially unveiled its long-anticipated three-cylinder engine in two near-production prototypes – the Zontes 703F adventure bike and the Zontes 703RR sportbike. Initially intended for a range of sizes from 600cc to 1,000cc, the first iteration of the engine will be a 699cc middleweight version, signaling a significant departure from Zontes’ current lineup of single-cylinder bikes. Expected to hit showrooms globally by the end of 2024, these motorcycles showcase Zontes’ strategic move to introduce three-cylinder powerplants, aiming to outpace competitors in the middleweight segment.

Zontes 703F Adventure Bike:
The Zontes 703F, designed as an adventure bike, features the new three-cylinder engine that produces a peak power of 100 hp at 9,000 rpm and 63 lb.-ft. of torque at 7,200 rpm. With an alloy chassis and swingarm, Brembo radial-mount brake calipers, and a wheel combination of 21 inches at the front and 17 inches at the rear, the 703F demonstrates off-road capability. Departing from conventional adventure bike designs, it adopts a unique styling approach, incorporating a tall screen above a distinctive, blunt nose. The bike’s angular and straight-line design emphasizes a modern and bold aesthetic.

Zontes 703RR Sportbike:
The Zontes 703RR, classified as a sportbike, utilizes the same three-cylinder engine but in a higher state of tune. Claiming a peak power of 110 hp at 11,000 rpm, the 703RR is designed to cater to enthusiasts seeking a sportier riding experience. Sacrificing some torque, it is expected to deliver 55 lb.-ft. at 8,600 rpm. With a focus on performance, the 703RR comes equipped with Brembo brakes, showcasing its commitment to offering a compelling and dynamic riding experience.

Performance and Production:
Both models are anticipated to be Euro 5+ type-approved, complying with stringent global emissions regulations. Production is expected to commence before the end of the next year, affirming Zontes’ dedication to bringing these three-cylinder motorcycles to market. The move to a three-cylinder engine positions Zontes as a competitor in the middleweight segment, responding to market trends and setting the stage for a new era of innovation and performance in the brand’s portfolio.
