A Behind-the-Scenes Look at NASCAR’s Intense 2023 Cup Series Playoffs
Netflix is gearing up to release a gripping five-part documentary titled “NASCAR: Full Speed,” offering viewers an insider’s view of the beloved American motorsport. The teaser video provides a sneak peek into the trials and triumphs of NASCAR, featuring perspectives from nine drivers, including Kyle Larson, Joey Logano, Ryan Blaney, William Byron, and the controversial Ross Chastain.
The 1-minute, 12-second trailer showcases highlights from the adrenaline-fueled NASCAR series, delving into the personal lives of drivers, intense crashes, conflicts, and the thrill of racing. The series will focus on the 2023 Cup Series playoffs, with each episode running approximately 45 minutes. Much like the successful “Drive to Survive” Formula 1 series, the documentary aims to captivate audiences by taking them behind the scenes and offering a detailed look at NASCAR.
Introduced in 2019, “Drive to Survive” has played a significant role in popularizing Formula 1, attracting millions of new fans globally. The impending sixth season of “Drive to Survive” reflects its immense success. NASCAR and Netflix aspire to replicate this triumph, hoping to elevate stock car racing to a global level.
NASCAR Senior Vice President Tim Clark expressed anticipation for the excitement and drama the docuseries promises, stating, “This is the most competitive form of motorsport on the planet.” He highlighted the aggressive nature of NASCAR drivers, showcasing their skills at high speeds and navigating through a field of race cars.
The documentary genre in motorsport has witnessed a surge in popularity, with notable examples like Hulu’s documentary on Brawn F1 and Porsche’s acclaimed “Road to Le Mans” focusing on endurance racing. “NASCAR: Full Speed” is scheduled to debut on Netflix on January 30, just ahead of the 2024 series, commencing with the Busch Light Clash at The Coliseum on February 5.
