From Classic Air-Cooled to Modern Water-Cooled, a Celebration of Porsche Heritage

The highly successful Luftgekuhlt show series has birthed a new chapter in the Porsche enthusiast community with the creation of the Air|Water event. Departing from its air-cooled exclusivity, Air|Water embraces all Porsches, marking its independence with the first stand-alone event scheduled for April 27, 2024, in Costa Mesa, Southern California.

Originating from Luftgekuhlt, an annual gathering dedicated to air-cooled Porsches, Air|Water signifies a shift towards inclusivity by welcoming both air-cooled and water-cooled models spanning various eras of Porsche’s storied history. The event’s broad scope accommodates diverse Porsche models, ranging from the new 911 GT3 RS and vintage 914s to transaxle 944s, overland Cayenne builds, fully-electric Taycan models, and even vintage Porsche tractors.

Unlike its predecessor, Luftgekuhlt, which changes its venue annually, Air|Water has chosen Costa Mesa as its permanent home. The inaugural Air|Water event debuted as part of the 2023 Luftgekuhlt 9 on Mare Island, San Francisco, offering enthusiasts a taste of the inclusive “everything Porsche” experience.

Organized by the same team behind Luftgekuhlt, including two-time Le Mans winner Patrick Long and creative director Howie Idelson, Air|Water promises a relaxed “family environment” with diverse food and beverage options. The event will feature Porsche-focused vendors, aftermarket specialists, custom builders, and professional restorers, creating a comprehensive celebration of the Porsche heritage.

As Luftgekuhlt gears up for its 10th Anniversary, Air|Water is set to make its mark in April 2024, with tickets already available on the official website. Attendees can choose from two options: a $50 entry for spectators without a vehicle and a $100 entrance fee for those bringing their beloved Porsches to be part of this expansive and inclusive gathering.
