Rare Opportunity: Off-Road Enthusiasts Can Bid on Limited-Edition Ford Bronco DR
Ultimate Baja 1000 Competitor with Mystichrome Finish Hits Bring a Trailer Auction
For enthusiasts who missed the chance to acquire a Ford Bronco DR over two years ago, a unique opportunity has emerged as one of the exclusive 50 units is now up for sale on Bring a Trailer. This particular Bronco DR, designed to dominate the Baja 1000’s dirt tracks, is a rare gem featuring fiberglass body panels adorned in a mesmerizing Mystichrome paint finish.
Built and developed by Ford in collaboration with Multimatic Motorsports, the Bronco DR on auction showcases its prowess with the Baja package. The package includes distinctive features such as a siren, two LED light bars, and Rigid Industries rock lights. The widebody design is complemented by black-finished 17-inch wheels with silver bead locks, wrapped in 37×12.5-inch BFGoodrich competition-use tires, concealing vented disc brakes with Alcon calipers.
Underneath its reinforced chassis, the Bronco DR boasts Multimatic Positional Selective DSSV dampers, a high-performance off-road stability suspension, and billet aluminum lower control arms. With 15.8 inches of suspension travel at the front and 17.4 inches at the rear, along with 11.8 inches of ground clearance, this off-road beast is designed for rock and dirt conquering.
Inside the cabin, the Bronco DR is race-ready with black vinyl Recaro Pro Racer ORV-XL seats, Sparco safety harnesses, and an array of competition-specific features. The MoTeC data acquisition system, reverse-view camera, Kenwood two-way radio, and a host of other enhancements contribute to its off-road racing capabilities.
Powering this off-road monster is a 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine, generating up to 400 horsepower. The 10R80 transmission and electric transfer case from the F-150 deliver power to the wheels, while independent electronically locking front and rear differentials ensure optimal traction. With a final drive ratio of 4.70:1, the Bronco DR maximizes the torque output of the potent Coyote V8.
Although the exact mileage remains unknown due to the absence of an odometer, this off-road-exclusive Bronco DR is not street-legal, adding to its allure. Currently listed on Bring a Trailer with a bid of $188,000, potential buyers have four days to participate in the auction for a chance to own this exceptional off-road machine, originally priced above $200,000. As bidding progresses, it’s anticipated that this off-road gem will fetch a higher price, given its rarity and impressive off-road pedigree.
