“Formerly Known as SsangYong, KG Mobility Introduces Torres and Torres EVX with ICE and Electric Powertrains”
KG Mobility, now known as KGM Motors in the UK, has unveiled details about its upcoming models, the Torres and Torres EVX, set to launch in the local market in the coming months. The Torres comes in both internal combustion engine (ICE) and battery-electric (EVX) variants, providing consumers with a choice based on their preferences and environmental considerations.
Torres – ICE Variant:
The Torres with an internal combustion engine will be the more affordable option, although specific pricing details are yet to be announced. It is equipped with a turbocharged 1.5-liter petrol engine paired with a six-speed manual transmission. While exact specifications for this engine in the Torres are pending, it is known to produce 161 hp and 206 lb-ft (280 Nm) of torque in the Korando. Initially available in front-wheel drive, an all-wheel-drive version is expected to launch later in the year.
Torres EVX – Battery-Electric Variant:
The Torres EVX, the electric counterpart of the Torres, is tailored for environmentally conscious buyers. It features a 73.4 kWh battery pack and an electric motor delivering 201 hp and 250 lb-ft (339 Nm) of torque. This electric variant operates exclusively with front-wheel drive and boasts a claimed range of 287 miles (462 km) on a single charge. Notable is the support for vehicle-to-load (V2L) charging capabilities, a feature distinguishing it from many other popular EVs in the market.
Visual Distinctions:
While sharing a similar visual identity, the Torres EVX features a distinct front fascia, including an LED light bar, a unique bumper design, and special headlamps. Additionally, the EVX model is equipped with 20-inch alloy wheels, contributing to its individualized appearance.
Modern Features in the Cabin:
Both the Torres and Torres EVX offer a modern and tech-forward interior. Key features include a 12.3-inch digital driver display and a central 12.3-inch infotainment display supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Standard safety features comprise lane-keeping assistance, front and rear parking sensors, automatic emergency braking, and a reversing camera.
As KG Mobility (KGM Motors) makes its debut in the UK market, the Torres and Torres EVX aim to cater to a diverse range of consumers seeking either traditional internal combustion power or electric propulsion with contemporary features.
